In Episode 8, Paul pastes his entire conversation with Nova into another chatbot. Funny in a comic; risky at work, where conversations and logs often carry things that shouldn’t leave the building.
Check before you paste
- Secrets: API keys, tokens, passwords, connection strings. Redact them, then rotate any that slipped through.
- Personal data: customer names, emails, addresses, anything regulated.
- Confidential code or plans your company hasn’t approved for that tool.
- Your provider’s data policy: what’s retained, and whether it’s used for training.
# Quick scan of a log before sharing
grep -nEi 'api[_-]?key|secret|token|password|bearer' app.log
When in doubt, reduce: a minimal reproduction with fake data is safer and gets better answers anyway.
